Built in 1793, our historic post and beam Maine inn welcomes you with an ambiance and warmth of a bygone era. From kayaking our rocky shoreline, to eating fresh lobster, exploring our many art galleries or just relaxing in a comfortable Adirondack chair, you’ll find out why Deer Isle has enticed visitors to this area for generations.

Rooms in our main building have views of either Northwest Harbor across the road, or our large and tranquil mill pond. All rooms feature historic colors, pumpkin pine floors, period pieces, private bathrooms and fine linens. Several feature gas fire places, exposed rough beams, and Deer Isle granite. Television and local phone service is available to guests in the library and game room. Wireless internet access is available for those who bring their own laptops.

Special Gatherings

The Pilgrim's Inn bed and breakfast offers the perfect setting for your wedding, family reunion, business meeting or special event. Our beautiful property is tucked away by the sea, yet is easily accessible by private car or contracted transportation. The historic ambiance of our charming property will make your gathering truly memorable. Our inn rooms and cottages will provide your guests with beautiful and comfortable accommodations, and our restaurant can prepare a wide range of food from a country-style barbecue to a beautifully prepared and artfully presented buffet or plated dinner. Please call us at 207-348-6615 or 888-778-7505 to discuss your event.

Weddings

What could be more romantic than getting married on the grounds of a beautiful 1700’s Maine coastal inn that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, or in a quaint country church near the water’s edge? Imagine the experience of a sunrise or sunset ceremony on the rustic shores of Penobscot Bay and Northwest Harbor. Our rustic and historic cedar-shake barn will be transformed into what The Discerning Traveler called “one of the most romantic places in New England.” We can accommodate up to 60 people inside the inn for dinner, with larger parties of up to 125 in an outdoor tent. Please call us to discuss how we can make your wedding a truly wonderful experience for you and your guests.

Family Gatherings

With all the demands on our lives these days, finding time to spend with family is more and more challenging. Let us take care of the details of your food and lodging, while you focus on what matters -- time spent with your loved ones. Our charming inn and picturesque location will provide a relaxing and memorable experience for all the members of your family, and local activities from hiking, kayaking and sailing, to theater, art galleries and scenic drives will be sure to offer something for everyone in your family to enjoy.

Business Meetings

Pilgrim’s Inn is a great location for small business meetings and retreats. We offer wireless internet access throughout the inn and meeting space can be configured to best meet your needs. While cell phone service is available on the island, it can’t be reached inside the inn (unless you stand on your head with legs bent like an antenna). We think this is a great advantage to those who need uninterrupted time to focus on the task at hand! We are located about an hour and a half from Bangor International Airport.

Breakfast

Breakfast is included in your room rate and each morning you’ll be treated to a choice between an egg or sweet breakfast entrée such as Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes served with pure Maine maple syrup, Brioche French Toast with fruit compote, or Savory Zucchini Pancakes with feta cheese and scallions. You’ll also be served juice, homemade granola and Maine roasted Carpe Diem coffee, along with fresh muffins made daily in our kitchen.

Dinner at the Whale’s Rib Tavern

In 2005 the Whale’s Rib Tavern was opened for dinner inside Pilgrim’s Inn and was an instant success. The rustic ambiance of our historic barn with views of the mill pond, and our cozy tap room create a warm and inviting atmosphere that is truly unique. In the summer months, seating on the deck is available and on many weekends local musicians provide folk music for your entertainment.

Our casual tavern menu features hearty food such as savory pot pies, seafood chowders, steak and pub burgers, and fish & chips, as well as grilled seafood, pastas, fresh salads, and homemade desserts. Our service bar offers a full selection of drinks from tasty martini’s to a fine selection of wine and beer. Due to the popularity of the Tavern, we recommend calling for a reservation at 207-348-5222.
