The Stonington Opera House

The Stonington Opera House has provided the people of Downeast Maine with over 100 years of community history, arts, and events. The theater was built in 1912 on the site of an earlier dance hall that had been previously destroyed by fire. It was originally built as a multipurpose building to accommodate community events as well as theatrical productions. Since then, it has seen many renovations including the installation of a film theater. Now, the building is owned by Opera House Arts, a local nonprofit that was established specifically to restore the building to its original purpose as an epicenter for the community. The Stonington Opera House functions once again as a staple for theater, music, dance, film, and other community events!
