Celebrating 3 Anniversaries at Pilgrim’s Inn

Happy Mid-Winter!

We know not everyone likes a cold, snowy winter like we do, but we are so happy to be spending the winter here in Downeast Maine.

When we reopen in the spring, the ground has thawed and the blooms are beginning to reemerge. There’s so much more to do here, so we are excited about that too! You can learn more about that in our Vacation Guide.

So, What Do We Do in the off Season?

pilgrim's innThroughout last season, many people asked us what we would do during the off-season. There is plenty of work to be done here – repairs and maintenance, special projects, marketing, and advertising all take place during the time we are closed. Some of the projects are weather-dependent because the inn is ‘put to bed’ for the winter. We work around Mother Nature, doing what we can when we can. Then, we get outside and have some fun!

We both have enjoyed exploring our beautiful island. We love getting to know guests and providing them with fresh, local information that aligns with their vacation ideas. Our experiences can add value to our guest’s time on the island. Scott and I have been out and about hiking the Island Heritage Trust trails, what we consider to be the jewel of the island. We don’t get to do much hiking during the summer, but the trails are just as amazing after all of the leaves have fallen or with a coating of snow. We spent some time wandering through Acadia in November. Wow! Whether we are ice skating on the Lily Pond, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing, we love it all.

Happy Anniversary to Us and Pilgrim’s Inn!

This month marks our first anniversary! It was last February that we purchased Pilgrim’s Inn. 2018 marks two important events in the history of our inn. In 1793, Ignatius Haskell completed construction of our fine building. It is almost unbelievable that that was 225 years ago! On top of that, Pilgrim’s Inn was placed on the National Register of Historic Places 40 years ago this month by the first owners of the Pilgrim’s Inn since the Haskell family, the Pavlovs.

Looking Forward to Reopening in the Spring

As the newest stewards, we strive to build on the excellent reputation that precedes us. Based on valuable guest feedback and comments, we are planning to add some new offerings and amenities to improve your stay. Expect some updates and new features to our website. We are excited to unveil a new logo soon, something we think is very representative of our site on Mill Pond. Scott has been busy playing with some new recipes and ideas in the kitchen, too. Taste testing is such difficult research😉.
