Start your day off with the Fun Run! Wake up early in your cozy room at Pilgrim’s Inn to register for the island’s walking and running events. Registration usually starts as early as 6:30 a.m., then the 10K Fun Run begins at 8:00 a.m. Challenge yourself to the run as you speed through the gorgeous scenery of Downeast Maine!
Deer Isle 4th of July Parade
Every year, the Deer Isle 4th of July Parade travels through Main Street right past Pilgrim’s Inn! These festivities usually begin at 10:00 a.m. The best seat in the house is on our front lawn. Enjoy the parade comfortably just steps away from your accommodations! Not only is this event an annual tradition, it will feel like a blast from the past. While watching from the sidelines, you will be transported back in time with features such as classic cars, 1700s attire, and more. A new theme is chosen each year; local businesses, nonprofits, and community groups design creative floats to reflect their interpretation of the theme.
Lunch at Masonic Hall
After the parade, take your appetite to the Masonic Hall at noon for some buttery Maine lobster or other local classics on the menu! Recharge before participating in more afternoon celebrations. The Deer Isle 4th of July Parade isn’t the only way we celebrate here!
Take a Break
After your delicious lunch, you’ll have some down time before other festivities begin. Relax on the Adirondak chairs by our pond, take a nap in your cozy room at Pilgrim’s Inn, or go explore somewhere on the island!

Fireworks Over the Harbor
Last but not least, continue celebrating the 4th of July in Downeast Maine with a spectacular fireworks display over the water. At 9 p.m., the fireworks will start at the Stonington Harbor. Take a walk up the hill from Main Street to Church Street or take a boat ride out into the water. Or, you can always lounge on the pier!
